October 27, 2024 Marta Sengers

HPG believes that many people in the community are not fully aware of the details of the proposal to upgrade the Taronga Zoo Sky Safari. It is apparent to HPG that the community has not been properly informed as to the potential impact the development will have on the environmental values of the site and Sydney Harbour generally.

There are considerable impacts, including the visual impact of much higher pylons above the tree line, a large intrusive lower station that will not blend in with the natural environment, the removal of trees, increased traffic generation, and construction impacts, including the loss of a local bus connection with ferry services.

Note: In 2022 HPG made a submission expressing concerns regarding the Revitalisation of Taronga Zoo Sky Safari, you can read this submission here >
