Our Annual General Meeting will be held at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 17 September 2025 at Mosman Square Seniors Centre, Spit Junction, Mosman NSW 2088.

Hear from Jill L’Estrange, HPG President, about HPG’s continuing strong advocacy and commitment to the preservation of magnificent Middle Head and all lands managed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust.

Come and listen to guest speaker Brigadier Kevin O’Brien, CSC, (Rtd.) (left), introduce his new book, “Long Tan Memories, Myths and Reality”, a battle described as “an epic victory in South Vietnam in the biggest battle involving Australian troops since the Korean War.”

Special screening “The School of Torture”

Middle Head was the training ground for the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) — the very first troops deployed to Vietnam. Their story is one of courage, sacrifice, and a unique chapter in Australia’s military history.

The AATTV was a specialist unit made up of elite soldiers, trained at the School of Military Intelligence at Middle Head, where they learned combat intelligence, Vietnamese language skills, and foreign army tactics. They completed the infamous Code of Conduct Course, known as “The School of Torture”, deep in the tunnels of Middle Head Fort, designed to prepare them for interrogation and capture.

We will be screening “The School of Torture”, a short movie, narrated by Captain Barry Petersen MC who was sent to Vietnam in 1963 under the command of the CIA. Petersen was ordered to train and lead guerilla squads of Montagnard tribesmen again the Viet Cong in the remote Central Highlands.
