Protect the important heritage and environmental values of Middle Head – Say NO to a new grandstand and urbanisation of the site.

HPG's position

  • HPG supports upgrading facilities at Middle Head Oval by way of sympathetic and appropriate alterations and additions to the existing changing facility or, only if absolutely necessary, the relocation and replacement of the facility.

  • HPG does not support the urbanisation of the site with a covered outdoor seating area (grandstand) or extended paved areas with associated recreational facilities. This development's bulk, scale and style detract from and degrade the precinct's important heritage and environmental values. 

HPG considers the redevelopment proposal to have a 'significant impact' on this site of exceptional heritage and must be referred to Minister Plibersek for approval. Read more here >

Guest Speakers: Former Commando Allan Miles OAM and Mark Skipper

Our special guests, Former Commando Allan Miles OAM and local Mosman resident Mark Skipper, will address the audience on 1 Commando Company, which was based at Georges Heights, Mosman, from 1955 and since relocated in 2006 to HMAS Penguin.

Allan Miles OAM will talk about his experiences and the history of 1 Commando Company, and Mark Skipper will relate the story of his father's career, Major Jack Skipper MC (pictured below), Officer Commanding 1 Commando Company from 1961-1963 who was awarded to the Military Cross (MC) for his exceptional leadership.
