Dear Members and Supporters,

I hope that you and your families have successfully navigated the interesting health and social restrictions that COVID-19 has presented.

We have seen over the period of lockdown and social distancing the importance of parkland and open space as a place of respite and for the enjoyment of all.

Headland Park showcased as a most valuable asset for the community. The ovals were crowded, with social distancing of course, with people exercising, families playing, flying kites, throwing balls, frisbees etc. In addition the walking tracks were busy with hikers, walkers and runners from early morning until early evening and the number of cyclists using Chowder Bay Road increased dramatically.

COVID-19 heralded the importance of retaining these lands as a natural parkland for all to enjoy. It strengthens the resolve of HPG to ensure that these lands are conserved and protected for future generations of Australians.

Independent Review of the Harbour Trust

The release of the report by the Minister for the Environment, The Hon Sussan Ley, in response to the Independent Review of the Harbour Trust, is imminent.

HPG anticipates that the Review Report will be released in the coming weeks and we shall notify you accordingly.

Harbour Trust Draft Leasing Policy

Submissions in respect of the above policy have been extended to 10 June 2020.  The Trust has subsequently advised that supplementary submissions will be received up to 4 weeks after the Review Report has been released.

HPG is finalising its submission in response to the Draft Leasing Policy and will make details of the submission available to you in due course.

Harbour Trust Board Meeting in Public – Tuesday 16 June 2020 at 3.00 – 5.00 pm

The Board meeting will be presented online via the Zoom Webinar platform.

Interested people must RSVP by accessing the Harbour Trust website and following the prompts. The Trust will then email a unique access link prior the meeting. 

Members are invited to submit questions in writing prior to the meeting. Questions must be received by 5.00pm, Wednesday 10 June 2020 and can be emailed to info@harbourtrust.gov.au.

At the Chair’s discretion questions may be asked at the meeting or submitted in writing during the meeting.
