Other NewsCommunity Advisory Committee (CAC) The CAC is a statutory body set up under the provisions of the Harbour Trust Act to provide advice and recommendations to the Harbour Trust on Trust sites. All members of the CAC, including myself and Vice-President Julie Goodsir, were retired from the Committee on 9 August 2022. We were thanked for our many years of service and our 'unwavering commitment and dedication the Harbour Trust.' We were advised that the decision was made to 'encourage diversity in experiences and perspectives represented on the Committee'. Julie and I are disappointed not to be able to represent your interests on the CAC and to relinquish the opportunity to keep you abreast of Harbour Trust matters. The Executive Director of the Harbour Trust, Janet Carding, has however committed to meeting regularly with HPG to keep us updated on relevant Harbour Trust issues. We are yet to be informed of the details of new members appointed to the CAC but we will advise you of the new appointees in due course. 10 Terminal 10 Terminal and Parklands Project is now at the Master Planning stage. On completion of the Master Plan in 2023, the Plan will be placed on public exhibition for comment. We will inform you of progress of this matter and advise when the plan is placed on public exhibition. Environmental Education Centre at Middle Head The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education is planning an Environmental Education Centre at Middle Head. It is proposed that this "centre may be established through the adaption of the Soldiers Institute and the construction of a covered outdoor learning area (COLA), storage room and public toilets for the purposes of education." The establishment of the centre will require an amendment to the Sydney Harbour National Park Plan of Management (Plan of Management) to allow new structures to be built at the precinct. Unfortunately, Schools Infrastructure NSW have not finalised the concept for the site prior to amendment of the Plan of Management. The Harbour Trust and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service have committed to work together to achieve a whole of Middle Head approach to the future evolution of the precinct. It remains to be seen what form the new structure will take and whether and to what degree it will impact the unique heritage values of the precinct.
