UPDATES: HARBOUR TRUST MATTERS

The Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP is the new Minister for Environment and Water.

The Harbour Trust is responsible to Minister Plibersek, who has recently visited Trust sites, including Middle Head.

This is good news as, hopefully, the Minister recognises the very important values of Trust lands and the need to complete the task of protecting, conserving and interpreting their environmental and heritage values.

Harbour Trust Board Meeting in Public

The Harbour Trust will be holding a Board meeting in Public on Wednesday 22 June 2022 between 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm at the Harbour Trust Head Office, Building 28, Best Avenue, Mosman. The meeting will be in-person or online. There will be limited spaces for the public to join the meeting in-person. Secure your spot early if you would like to attend.

Questions to the Trust Board for a Q&A session at the end of the meeting can be submitted online before Wednesday 15 June 2022.

Commemoration of the 1915 Battle of Lone Pine

6-10 August marks the anniversary of the 1915 Battle of Lone Pine.

To mark this occasion, HPG has gifted an Aleppo pine with origins from a tree grown from seed retrieved from the battle ground and sent by Benjamin Smith to his mother in Inverell to commemorate the death of his brother Mark in that infamous battle.

The tree will be planted by HPG and Mosman RSL sub-Branch representatives at a ceremony at the Parade Ground at Georges Heights on Monday 15 August at 11.00 am. All are welcome to attend.

The tree replaces a tree planted at Georges Heights in 2002 provided by Messrs Don Goodsir and Phil Cannane.
