Submissions on the Harbour Trust’s Draft Master Plan for Middle Head

Thank you to all the members and supporters who made a submission on the Harbour Trust’s Draft Master Plan for Middle Head. It is important that the community makes its views known on this important matter that has far-reaching consequences, not only for the Harbour Trust site of Middle Head but for the Mosman community and environs generally.

HPG has reviewed 225 submissions received by the Harbour Trust. Of these, 10 were duplicates, and 46 submissions received by the Harbour Trust were private and confidential and not available for review.

HPG observed that, even for respondents who indicated they are either ‘very supportive’ or ‘supportive’ of the Draft Master Plan, considerable numbers also expressed concern about one or two actions in the plan.

Significantly, 93.6% of responses that HPG reviewed have concerns about the Draft Master Plan.

On 1 June 2023, stakeholders, including HPG, met with the Harbour Trust to discuss the submissions and to inform further amendments to the Draft Master Plan. The Harbour Trust has advised that in response to the submissions received, it has commissioned relevant studies and reports to inform further decision-making regarding the Master Plan. We shall advise you when a revised Draft Master Plan is available for public comment.

Joseph Carrozzi has announced his retirement as Chair of the Harbour Trust

Joseph will retire on 30 June 2023. He has been an active member of the Board since 2016, re-appointed on three occasions, and Chair since 2018. 

Under Joseph’s leadership, the Harbour Trust has undergone a significant transformation following the Independent Review and has moved from a transitional body to a permanent custodian of Harbour Trust lands, a move strongly supported by HPG.

Joseph has encouraged engagement between the Harbour Trust and the community and has ensured that HPG has continued to have a role in informing the Harbour Trust of community views. HPG is most appreciative that Joseph has always made himself readily available to discuss HPG’s issues of concern regarding Trust lands.

HPG recognises and applauds Joseph’s efforts in leading the Harbour Trust over the past five years and is pleased that Joseph will continue to be interested in the future of Trust lands.

HPG thanks Joseph for his commitment to the role of Chair and the future of the Harbour Trust and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.

The Harbour Trust invites members of the public to attend the Public Board Meeting on Thursday 15 June 2023, between 5.30 pm – 7.00 pm.

Board members will be available to answer questions from the public and engage in discussion at the end of the meeting. Come to the meeting, ask your questions, whether they be about the Draft Master Plan for Middle Head or other issues, and show your interest in the future of these lands.
